off to sightsee in n. y. c.
the only thing actually scheduled for friday was dinner in SoHo with jennifer so I suggested we start on the upper east side. after standing atop 30 rock the day before, lulu suggested central park so we headed there. we grabbed a cab - the frick collection was our destination. the frick mansion sits on the corner of 70th & fifth with a phenomenal view of central park. I tortured abby with a 90 minute tour of MoMA in december (actually, she enjoyed the museum, it was just a long visit) so this relatively small museum, housed in a 1931 mansion, is completely managable. we lucked out because there was a Renoir exhibit going on so we accidentally enjoyed some serious classics, too.
from there we headed into central park to the sailboat pond - if we hadn't logged a few miles the day before with more planned for this day, I would have insisted we walk around. instead we spent some time people watching and running through lists of movies and TV shows set in central park, and nyc in general, which put things in a teenager's perspective.
where to next? we decided to walk down madison avenue for some window shopping and when we passed lauderée, without a line, we couldn't help ourselves. the girls had never tried a macaron before and were easily convinced that they'd been missing out. it gave us the energy to continue on to Bergdorfs, FAOSchwarz and Tiffany & Co. for more browsing.
by now it was almost 3:30 and we hadn't eaten an actual meal so we flagged a cab and headed back to the hotel. our plan was to hit Mood on our way to our 5:30 meetup at jennifer's office so we spent a little time recharging - ourselves and our electronics.
PS - here's a handy dandy map of our excursion:
