ready or not

alt-trainmore like NOT. I'm headed out tomorrow for NYC and once again I'm all amateur hour. Back in February, after I snagged a ticket to Alt Summit and right after my With Intention weekend workshops with Jess Lively I had BIG plans. I saw it all coming together so nicely and Alt seemed like a great goal to aim for - especially since I was a deer in headlights last summer at Alt and I vowed to make the most and do it right the next time. At least right for me and use Alt as a coming out or unveiling of ELIZABETH CRANE SWARTZ.

Here was my TO DO list back in March:

  • change URL from seagrassstudio.snazzymustache.com to elizabethcraneswartz.com (I own the URL just need help migrating and losing the 'snazzymustache')
  • change Facebook page, twitter, instagram, & other social media from seagrass studio to elizabeth crane swartz
  • install and set up WooCommerce plugin and move off of BigCartel
  • order new business cards with new URL
  • work with Smita Jacobs / Hogger & Co for head shots, product photography, editorial-like photos for newsletters, etc

and let's see how many things I've crossed off my TO DO list:

  • change URL from seagrassstudio.snazzymustache.com to elizabethcraneswartz.com (I own the URL just need help migrating and losing the 'snazzymustache')
  • change Facebook page, twitter, instagram, & other social media from seagrass studio to elizabeth crane swartz
  • install and set up WooCommerce plugin and move off of BigCartel
  • order new business cards with new URL
  • work with Smita Jacobs / Hogger & Co for head shots, product photography, editorial-like photos for newsletters, etc

I hadn't factored in all the travel in March, April and May and the difficulty in getting on someone else's calendar. Smita is one busy, fabulous photographer/traveler, too and while it hasn't happened in time for Alt, it will be happening this summer so look out. There's been a host of other crazy goings-on that I'll elaborate on later but suffice it to say: I have no business heading to NYC for Alt right now.

But... I want to and I'm going. I'm really looking forward to connecting in real life with internet/blogging/creative friends. I'm having dinner with Gabrielle Blair and her sister, Sara Urquhart - the founders of Alt - on Wednesday. On Thursday, I get to listen to the likes of Jenny Komenda, Grace Bonney and Garance Doré all in the company of some pretty great, like-minded women. To add some icing to this slice of cake, Bob and the kids will be joining me in NYC on Friday and we're sticking around for the weekend. And for the cherry on top? My parents and my mother's siblings and two of my cousins will be in NYC to toast a big birthday for my uncle.

So who all is headed to Alt NYC this week? Look for me on Thursday, I'll be the one handing out soon-to-be-useless business cards.
