can we talk?

mixed-messages

these are two 'quotes' on pinterest, pinned by the same person, literally one after the other. does this bother anyone else? please tell me I'm not the only who realizes these are two contradictory adages.

you're either strong for sticking it out or you're strong for leaving. which is it? you can't have it both ways. this is just the beginning of an irritating trend on pinterest, facebook and even instagram. it's like everyone's looking to make themselves feel better by pointing out why the other person is wrong. people are looking to put something right by blaming someone else. I'm all for empowering yourself (heck, my pinterest board is called amen) but I have enough of a challenge raising myself and my kids, I don't have time to figure you out, too. life isn't black and white - it's filled with shades of gray and there are two sides to every story.

how about this? just be the best you can be with a heavy dose of compassion, empathy and forgiveness. cool? let's spend less time worrying about what everyone else is doing and why. let's not point fingers and definitely, DEFINITELY stop making excuses. shit my mom used to say that actually make sense now / elizabethcraneswartz.com

this is the kind of stuff my mom, and her mother, used to say to us that now makes perfect sense
