summer of fitness
I'm pretty lazy. not intentionally but I sit for a large part of my day and sedentary breeds sedentary so it's hard to get motivated. I thought it might help to have to my two athletic girls get my ass in gear while they're home for the summer and we've been finding fun ways to get moving. we've been spinning several times at rev'd indoor cycling in dedham (they're opening a second location in foxboro later this year!) and it's been a blast - great music, great instructors and a really great workout. we're calling ourselves #TheMenstrualCycles. lulu and I were invited to try out a free yoga class at the street in chestnut hill (my first ever yoga) and man my arms and shoulders were sore the next day. we've been checking out the calendar of free (yes, FREE!) #streetsweat fitness events and the three of us can't wait to try some more yoga and something called 'freestyle fitness'. really, sign me up for anything to make me feel stronger and I love that I have two cheerleaders to push me. I've been so motivated that I even walked a ton while we were at the beach last week. I will admit that this wasn't exactly the worst way to exercise. also, abby and I signed up for a 5k race at the end of the summer. neither of us enjoys running but we thought we'd give it a try and we've done zero actual running to date but we're confident this won't be an obstacle. you know, YOLO and all.
