A LITTLE GETAWAY
once upon a time, Bob and I stayed at a sleepy little hotel in the middle of downtown Saratoga Springs, NY with our (at the time) two little kids. we were there for Bob’s alumni hockey weekend at Skidmore College and we picked it because The Downtowner was super convenient and had an indoor pool.
fast forward to this past weekend when we were invited by Lark Hotels to come check out the huge renovation and we were stunned to see The Downtowner looking so good - super chic, very modern and still one of the most convenient hotels in saratoga springs. (and PS, it’s pet-friendly)
what was once the pool is now a fabulous lounge area - a great place to hang out and grab some coffee from the bar (cleverly called The Deep End.) our youngest is now at Skidmore and other daughter decided to join us for the weekend and take in everything the city has to offer.
the rooms are bright and modern and some even have their own entrances from the outside but you won’t be spending much time in them! while racing season is one of the big draws, Saratoga is fun year round with SO MANY bars & restaurants (no, seriously), go explore the gardens at Yaddo, enjoy cultural events and the Tang Museum at Skidmore College, the Racing Museum, the Roosevelt Baths & Spa, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center just to name a few.
oh, and if you’re up for it, The Downtowner has a scavenger hunt you can join in on while you’re “out on a lark”.
curious what the lounge area used to look like? check it out and imagine endless games of marco polo.
