A MONTH OF LEARNING!

in addition to my #52weekchallenge, I wanted to spend time out of my studio learning, trying new things and keep it all interesting. I figure getting out of my comfort zone can only lead to good things.

I follow Digs Enamel on instagram and when Tim posted his enamel workshop offerings I jumped at the chance to spend the day making a mess in someone else’s studio.

three of us showed up with zero experience and Tim and Kate let us take over their space. they shared their ideas, their materials and their expertise and were incredibly generous. I didn’t come with any plan so I used some die-cut copper crescent shapes with the hopes of ending up with a necklace. honestly the hardest part was choosing colors.

in addition to sharing their space, Tim and Kate spent a considerable amount of time answering my questions about business, art shows, marketing and career paths. after feeling pretty down from the 4th quarter of 2019, their feedback was incredibly helpful.

I left with some really interesting finished pieces, a boat load of helpful advice and a fresh batch of ideas. I would definitely do another Digs enamel workshop. especially now that I have a better understanding of the ‘rules’ which always makes it easier to break them.
