FOR MY NEXT NEEDLEPOINT TRICK…

I crushed the bag strap in what I like to think is record time. plus it was a good way to understand how NOT to paint a canvas and how to adjust while stitching. and like I said, the ideas for needlepoint projects kept swirling in my head.
just before this quarantine started (literally the day before) I bought a yard of 13 mesh canvas from a cute needlepoint shop called stitch boutique, in Boston, and went about cutting it to make ornaments out of my #cardart. I chose the most recent designs to start and it took me a little while to sort out downsizing the A4 card size to a more ornament like size without sacrificing detail or design but I worked it out.

I love how quickly these stitch up! when the girls aren’t zooming their college classes, we’re binging on Bones (love a good coroner/mystery show) and I can easily stitch and watch with them.
I’ve also done some research on how to finish these ornaments myself. once again abigail cecile came through with a great tutorial. I’ve ordered my foam core, batting, fabric glue and trim to handle it all. it was hit or miss with backing fabric but I found a big scrap on ebay that will *just* cover the back of 16 years of #cardart designs + whatever I sort out for 2020.
