UPDATED FIBER FAVORITES
awhile back I whipped up quick silk & ivory color ‘charts’ on my phone (all four below) and wanted to follow up somehow with photos of the actual fiber. it wasn’t until I was at one of the recent popup trunk shows (hi The Wellesley Needlepoint Collection!) and someone asked me to pull the exact fibers I would, use if starting from scratch, for an #ecspaints bag strap/belt. I took a quick photo of the (mostly) silk & ivory threads I’ve used and loved.
the 73 random fibers I mix and match when stitching or my instagram stories diagrams. it’s definitely more useful than my ‘use whatever you have!’ answer if you’re overwhelmed and looking to start a killer stash.
I’ve mentioned before that my go to background color is ‘pink lemonade’ but wanted to mention that ‘crab’ and ‘posie’ are great alternatives. and in addition to the Vineyard Silk ‘Jasmine’ (a favorite green) the silk & ivory colors shown below are:
- killarny
- turquoise
- grasshopper
- honeydew
- leprechaun
- cantaloupe
- peony
- banana
- clementine
- acorn squash
- veronica
- hyacinth
- lavender
- shrinking violet
- sugarplum
- orchis
- sloe gin fizz
- singapore sling
don’t forget to tag me in your stitching - in progress and finished. I love seeing how everyone makes my designs their own. happy stitching!
